Hey Besties! This recipe has been a long time coming and I’m so excited to finally be able to share! I’ve heard your requests for an amazing cookies and cream cutout cookie recipe! Combined with my daughter’s love of Oreos, here we are! But I will admit, the amount of recipe trials and tweaks I’ve made to get to this point has been no small feat! And in the end, our taste testers favorite variation was SO simple! I could not believe the amount of time and energy that went into this quest, only to land on such a simple solution! Let’s get our cookie on!
Cookie Trials & Research
If you’ve been here before, you may already know I never publish or share a new recipe until it’s been proven and tested by MANY testers! And after so many taste testers and baker friends loving this one, I’m hoping you all love it too! Nailing this flavor took many more trials than most of my recipes do and yet, the solution I was looking for was right in front of me the whole time! It turns out that the flavor we LOVE for our Funfetti cutout cookie recipe is also just what we needed for our cookies and cream cutout cookie recipe!
When our taste testers fell in love with this recipe, I was equal parts annoyed and overjoyed! Annoyed because I could have saved myself SO much time in this quest! But overjoyed because we now have another amazing cookie recipe we can use this flavoring with! The key ingredient that brings it all together is THIS! We LOVE this flavoring and our family, friends and customers love it too! I commonly purchase it in a bigger bottle due to how often we use it and maybe something you want to consider if you love it too! But a little goes a long way with this flavor, so you can start small!
A world of cookie flavors!
And if you’re new to working with super strength flavors or emulsions, THIS post breaks it all down for you so you can open the door to endless flavor options. LorAnn makes some amazing products, many of which I LOVE and feature in our cutout cookie recipe collection HERE. They make it super easy to achieve really fun and delicious flavor combos and keep everyone excited for your treats! This cake batter flavor is definitely front and center in our pantry!
You may be asking, doesn’t LorAnn have a cookies and cream flavoring? They do! And while we love so many LorAnn products and flavorings, the cookies and cream flavoring they offer was not a hit with our testers! I was so surprised, but you can’t argue with taste testers!
Try Not To Eat All The Dough
Besties, I often joke that I practically have to me muzzled when making this flavor because the dough is THAT good. And while we’re almost always decorating our cookies, sometimes they don’t make it that far. This recipe is no exception, especially with the cookies and cream flavor. They are super yummy on their own, but also incredibly delish when iced. We most commonly pair our cutout cookies with our vanilla royal icing to let the cookie flavor shine. So go ahead and enjoy plain or hide them so you can decorate them!

The Easy Cookies and Cream Cutout Cookie Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup (227g) Unsalted Butter Chilled & Cubed
- 1 cup (200g) Granulated White Sugar
- 1 tsp (5ml) Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 tsp (2.5ml) Cake Batter Super Strength Flavoring LorAnn brand
- 1 Large Egg Chilled
- 2 tsp (9.5g) Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp (3g) Salt
- 3 cups (360g) All-Purpose Flour
- 1/2 cup Crushed Oreos (About 6 regular Oreos)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- We bake on our favorite perforated baking mats to eliminate any chance of spread, for even baking and pretty undersides of our cookies!
- Cream butter and sugar until smooth, about 2 minutes. No need to excessively cream as it can lead to cookie spread.
- Beat in cake batter flavoring, vanilla and egg.
- In a separate bowl, combine baking powder, salt, flour and crushed Oreos. Add to wet ingredient mixing bowl a little at a time.
- Mix until thoroughly blended. Dough should be pulling away from the bowl.
- Chilling the dough is not necessary! I have tried many different ways of rolling out dough and always come back to the old-fashioned way; a sheet of wax paper that has been floured.
- I usually divide the dough into 3 chunks and roll out each onto a floured surface and cut. In my experience, this dough works best for cookies at 1/4" thick. I use my Joseph Joseph rolling pin which does the measuring for me – genius! If you prefer thicker cookies, you'll just want to adjust your baking time.
- Bake at 350 for 7-8 minutes, depending on size of cookie. I also suggest baking similar-sized cookies together.
- Cool cookies on cookie sheet until firm enough to transfer to cooling rack.

I can’t wait to try them!!
I made these tonight, AMAZING!!! The only alteration, I always add 1 TBSP of corn starch. These cookies are being added to my rotation, thank you!
So happy to hear you love them too! Enjoy!!!
Hello! I have cake batter (LorAnn) but it’s not Super Strength. Do you think this would work? Should I add more? Or are the flavors that different? Thanks! Can’t wait to try these!
Hi! That’s the same flavoring! Happy baking!!
i want to make your cookies and cream recipe, my question is do I crush up the Oreo cookie with or without the center filling?
Also, I have the dark chocolate filling version of Oreos, is that going be a problem?
Hi! Full Oreos (filling included)! The dark chocolate version would be delicious too!
