The Best Cookie Stamps
Metal Cookie Stamps
So we’ve covered the recipes, but let’s get to the FUN part – cookie stamps! I started my cookie stamping adventure using metal Nordic Ware cookie stamps. They have many different sets and there are several I will always come back to. They are excellent quality, considered heirlooms and will last forever!
The stamping technique I use when using metal cookie stamps is included with photos, HERE. It is as simple as rolling your dough into balls, rolling in sugar and then stamping down. You can then trim the excess dough using a cookie cutter to make them perfect! The result is a stunning stamped cookie as shown in the photo above.
These metal stamps work beautifully for designs that are not really intricate. But if you want really intricate designs, wooden stamps, featured in the next section are my favorite!
Wooden Cookie Stamps
After using metal cookie stamps for a long time, I discovered wooden cookie stamps and fell in LOVE! I get my 2.5″ cookie stamps HERE, where you can see SO many amazing designs! They also have 3″ stamps that are even more stunning and intricate, and you’ll find those HERE. Honestly, their 3″ Cathedral collection is what cookie dreams are made of, they are so pretty! I’ll also add that and if any designs I want are out to stock there, I can always find them in their Etsy shop HERE.
Here is a just a couple of beautiful cookie sets I have made with their stamps!
I LOVE supporting this small, family-owned business out of Appleton, Wisconsin. Their founder, Rick McKinney, is a professional potter. Over the course of his career, he created various textures for clay and later transitioned from clay to baking designs. Their family has a love for all things baking and has a true passion around textures. Their stamps are made from hardwood, precision cut with beveled edges for easy release from the dough and treated with food-grade hardening oil for durability and easy cleaning. They are made with love and to last forever! The stamps themselves are truly a work of art, and I look forward to keeping these in my family for generations to come!
Wooden Cookie Stamp Technique
Not only do I prefer the intricate designs of the wooden stamps, but I greatly prefer the stamping technique. It’s as simple as rolling out your dough and then stamping with a well-floured stamp. I usually wet my stamp before starting, just so the flour has something to adhere to and then I dip my stamp in loose flour after every 1-2 cookies. Using this technique, I don’t have any issues with dough sticking and they are super easy to use! My recipes don’t require any chilling, so I simply make my dough, roll out, stamp, cut and bake!
My cookie stamp collection continues to slowly grow and I’m so happy to share this amazing small business with my Besties! These are the kinds of businesses that we should all be supporting and I’m confident you’ll love their cookie stamps as much as I do! You can support THIS small business while making beautiful and delicious cookies for your family, friends and customers!
Want to take your stamped cookies to the next level?
I rarely ice my stamped cookies since I never want to take away from the beautiful designs. And for those who prefer an uniced cookie, these are perfect! But I do commonly coat the bottoms of my stamped cookies in chocolate for added beauty and flavor. You can see the easiest, mess-free way to do this HERE! Or, sometimes, I’ll dust my stamped cookies with luster dust if I want to add some sparkle and enhance the design. Here is an example of chocolate cookies with added gold luster dust!
