Recipes
First things first! You’ll need a delicious canvas to create your fall porch cookies! I chose to make today’s cookies with our cinnamon spice cutout cookie recipe. It’s no-chill, no-spread, soft, chewy and brings all the cozy flavor of fall. However, you’ve always got options here! Have fun choosing your next favorite recipe from our cutout cookie recipe collection.
Next, you can find the exact royal icing recipe we use every day, along with exactly how we make it. When it comes to royal icing, the method you use to make it can make or break your results. This recipe is very simple to make and gives us perfect results every time. No color bleed, no craters, just beautiful and delicious icing every time.
Front Door Cookie Designs
For these cookies, I used a 3 x 4.5″ rectangle cutter, specifically THIS one.
Here’s the deal, Besties…for whatever reason, creating symmetrical front door designs was a real challenge for me! Which is why I popped into Canva and create some front door design options. Then I used these with my projector to pipe directly onto my cookies. You could also print, cut and use these as templates with edible marker to sketch your designs. Since these were helpful for me, I thought they might be helpful for you as well.
And while I decorated these for a dreamy fall porch, these templates can be used yeur round for any housewarming or other home cookie sets!
Decor For Fall Porch Cookies
Now things start to get really fun! I’ve put together some cute fall porch decor royal icing transfer sheets for you to use with your designs. If royal icing transfers are new to you, our full tutorial is very helpful to learn why transfers are so great, how to make them and use them! And once you’re ready, you can download these fall porch decor transfer sheets. There are pumpkins in different styles and sizes, as well as lanterns. You’ll also find a ring template in a variety of sizes to help you make any kind of wreath you’d like.
Here are some examples of styles and designs I made, to help inspire your own designs!
I feel like if had to pick which two I’d love best as my actual front porch, it would be one of these!
For some of these door designs, I scraped the icing on first, let dry and then piped over to create the dimension. Be sure to let the door icing dry completely before adding any transfers. The beauty of transfers with this design is that you can create wreaths that you could not create if you piped directly onto the cookie.
And just for fun, I created a couple cute doormat cookies to round out our porch decor! One standard welcome mat and then another that’s more fitting for our family’s porch. Adding the mat texture is easily achieved by stippling on extra icing on top of a dried flood base, with a paintbrush.
