Hey Besties! I’m so excited to share one of my new FAVORITE products! As decorators, we’re always looking for the best and easiest ways to add beautiful sparkle and metallic accents to our creations. And while there are a whole lot of luster dusts and other products out there, these metallic edible markers are my go-to for easy accents! Forget about busting out the high-proof alcohol to mix up a metallic paint, these will be your new best friends. Read on for the shiny scoop!

All That’s Shiny Is Not Always Beautiful

Before we get into the fun, a quick word on using edible metallics! If you’ve ever shopped for metallic products made for baking, you’ll know there can be a lot of confusion around what is edible, non-toxic or just plain not meant for consumption. And bakers can have really strong feelings about this topic too! Some of the most beautiful metallic products, unfortunately, are only non-toxic, and not labeled as edible, using FDA compliant ingredients. Every baker has to decide what they are comfortable with, but personally, I only use edible products. There have been some big lawsuits against bakeries in the past years due to people getting sick from ingesting glitters and other metallic products that weren’t meant for consumption. So, I don’t take any chances and honestly, just don’t want to feed anything to anyone that I wouldn’t want to feed my family. I digress, but wanted to share this since not all bakers realize the potential dangers and your safety and health is important to me.

Shiny, Beautiful and Edible!

Here’s the deal, I’m always looking for the best products I can use that are also the most efficient and cost-effective. Enter THESE metallic edible markers! I often just want to add some metallic accents to my designs, and I LOVE that I can do that without having to mix up paint. Or when I want to just add a pretty word or color a word with metallic color, these are perfect for that! Plus, I personally have more control with a marker than a paintbrush.

These are available in gold, silver and rose gold (which I think is more bronze). I think the rose gold is actually my favorite! They glide so smoothly over royal icing and are dual-tipped so have a thicker paintbrush-like stroke and a thinner tip for finer writing. Here is a closer photo to illustrate the different colors.

I just LOVE using these because the metallic finishes are so pretty, they dry within minutes, they don’t smudge, are fully edible and save me from mixing metallic paints! The convenience factor combined with the results make these a MUST-HAVE in my decorating tools.

Edible Metallic Paints

As amazing as the markers are, sometimes you do need a stunning edible metallic paint! I’ve tried MANY different luster dusts and products to give that dazzle we’re all after. And my verdict is out…when I’m looking for a metallic gold, THIS is my favorite. Fully edible and give the best gold finish in all of my trials. Also available in silver, rose gold and pearl, they aren’t cheap, but a little bit goes a long way and if you’re only using them for accents, they last a LONG time.

The only drawback is that those are not available in a wide range of colors! I keep hoping those are coming, but it’s a waiting game. If I need a fun metallic color, I use Bakell or Sugar Art luster dusts, which are also fully edible!

With so many products on the market it can quickly become overwhelming when deciding the best bang for your buck! I’m happy to have these edible metallic markers and paint products in my decorating arsenal. Again, the goal is always best quality, best results at the best price and these happily have my endorsement.
