Now that you’ve perfected your sugar cookies using this recipe, here is the best royal icing recipe to get decorating! I LOVE this recipe because it is easy, delicious and works perfectly for decorating beautiful cookies! I never have problems with air bubbles or anything else. Another bonus is that it has a soft bite to it! Have you ever bit into a cookie and almost cracked a tooth?! You won’t have that problem with this recipe which is one of the reasons my customers LOVE it!

RECIPE LINK

This royal icing recipe comes directly from Semi Sweet Designs and can be found HERE! They’ve done a wonderful job walking you through the recipe with pictures and detailed instructions, so I’m happy to share! They also do a great job explaining the best way to store your icing as well.

MerinGue Powder

I will note that I always use Genie’s Dream Meringue Powder which I have found to have the best flavor. I’ve tried many different meringue powders and always come back to this one.

Royal Icing Storage

In regards to storing your cookie icing, in the recipe, they explain the best way to store your icing. I have found that while it does last at room temp when stored properly, you do need to give it a good stir before you use it again as the corn syrup does settle. I have also found that these silicone bowls covers are really helpful when you’re actively working with several bowls of icing and don’t want to cover each bowl with plastic wrap. If storing overnight, I would, however, cover the icing with plastic wrap and a wet towel, as described in the recipe link.

I hope you find this sugar cookie icing recipe helpful and tasty! Leave a comment after you try it! Next, see this post to learn the tips and tricks to perfecting your icing consistencies for decorating your cookies!

Not sure if your baking soda is still good? Add a teaspoon of baking soda to 1/2 cup hot water. If it bubbles, it's still good!
