After weeks of planning, I had the opportunity to connect with Marguerite Redman, The Cookie Artist, and am so excited to introduce her as our newest Featured Baker! Marguerite and her husband split their time between Ohio and Florida and unfortunately had extensive damage to their Florida home from Hurricane Ian. But after a long weekend of clean-up. Marguerite was able to chat to share the latest on not only her custom cookie business but her booming Cookie Artist Studio! This may very well become one of your new favorite shops for all things cookie decorating too! Read on to see her beautiful work and learn how her entrepreneurial spirit of teaching herself to do anything has led to such success!
Big Family Baking
Marguerite has been baking in mass quantities her whole life! Growing up as one of 8 kids, she fondly remembers baking quadruple batches of chocolate chip cookies for her family every week. At Christmastime, her mom would bake the cookies and she would decorate. Once grown, she carried this tradition into her own family and really started mastering decorating with royal icing. Friends and family started asking her to make their Christmas cookies, which then became year-round cookie requests. She was officially called “The Cookie Artist” in her small town, so in 2000, she launched her cookie business!
While decorated sugar cookies have become all the rage, Marguerite has been decorating sugar cookies the longest of all our Featured Bakers! She’s been perfecting and developing her cookie decorating skills for over 20 years now and still loves it, especially during the holiday season.
Ask And YOu Shall Receive
As most cookiers do, Maguerite would share photos of her cookie art on social media for others to enjoy. At that time, she would create her own cookie cutters by bending metal. But people would always inquire “Where did you get that cutter?” Eventually, she bought herself a 3D printer to make her own cutters and really started enjoying the printing process. Since fellow cookiers were continuing to ask about her cutter designs, she decided to launch Cookie Artist Studio. Over the last few years, her shop continues to grow and grow! She now specializes in not only cutters, but scribes, embossing sheets, stencils and more! And she now has nine 3D printers running full-time to keep up with demand! Marguerite shared, “It’s so fun, I love it!” She even has neighbors that come over to see her printers in action!
BAlancing It All As The Cookie Artist
Somehow Marguerite does it all! She still makes custom cookie orders; she’s known for her vanilla and chocolate cut outs. She has 8 grandkids who all love to bake. And, she continues to grow her thriving Cookie Artist Studio, with no plans of backing off. Actually, she’s also considering creating online cookie decorating classes so people can learn on their own time. Don’t ask me where she finds all the hours in a day!
Words Of Encouragement
Marguerite shared, “We live in the land of opportunity, the sky’s the limit!” When I asked what advice she has for aspiring bakers or entrepreneurs, she shared this, “Do what you love and make it work; surround yourself with successful people; and continually explore”. These all resonated with me, and I hope they inspire you. Marguerite’s wisdom perfectly supports all of what we encourage here at Your Baking Bestie; create the life you love.
A Full Life Of Gratitude
Marguerite shared that her husband Roger is her biggest fan and supporter, and I could hear in her voice, how much that means to her. She’s created an amazing life, doing what she loves while also putting family first. She is an inspiration for all to keep learning and if there’s something you want to try, go for it and figure it out! You never know what doors may open; and if there’s not a door, build one yourself!
It was such a pleasure to get to know Marguerite and between you and me, I’m really excited about Cookie Artist Studio because her products look awesome! Check out Marguerite’s Etsy shop, website and socials linked below! And in the meantime, I hope you enjoy this gallery of her work!
