Hey Besties! Who’s ready to have fun with April Fools cookies?! Is there something those you bake for have always wanted? Well now you have the chance to grant their wish with a cute button cookie! Well, not actually grant their wish, but they get a fun cookie instead! Bring on the fun!

Delicious Canvases

First things first! These fun April Fools cookies need a delicious canvas to be enjoyed! I used our Funfetti cookie recipe which is a year-round favorite! One of our all-time favorite flavors, brings me right back to licking the beaters as a kid. But you also have many other delicious options HERE! All of our cutout cookie recipes are no-chill, so they are quick, simple and delicious!

Royal Icing Recipe

If you already have a royal icing recipe you love, I love that for you! But if you’re looking for a fabulous royal icing recipe, or if your current recipe is giving you any grief, I encourage you to try THIS. When it comes to royal icing success, it really has more to do with HOW you make your icing. When made properly, you can avoid color bleed, cratering and other common issues that plague cookiers. And cookie decorating is so much more fun without having to worry about any icing issues!

April Fools Cookies

Listen, I’m always looking for fun ways to surprise my family with fun April Fool’s Day surprises. And our bakery has offered many fun designs in the past. So this year, I thought these fun button cookies would be fun to grant some wishes! Surprise people with these simple, yet cute, and delicious “push for….” cookies!

You can use any shape cookie cutter you’d like, but I chose plaque shapes. These came from THIS cutter set, which we use for SO many of our cookie sets!

And to make these simple to make, I created a button royal icing transfer sheet for you. It’s a great way to make consistent button shapes to add to your cookies. And it’s always easier to paint cookie elements with edible metallics before they are on the cookies! You can download this button transfer sheet HERE or by clicking on the transfer sheet image below.

Our Favorite Edible Gold

These cookies simply would not have been as cute without the shimmering edible gold around the button! Our favorite edible gold luster dust is THIS one! We only use products that are deemed fully edible (non-toxic doesn’t make the cut) and this one gives us the best metallic gold!

April Fools Day Button Cookie Video

I created a quick decorating video for you to see just how simple and fun these are to make! And your wording options are only limited by your imagination! People can ‘push the button’ for their favorite things, things they’ve always wanted, something silly, or anything really! They may not actually get want they want, but they do get a delicious cookie to enjoy! You can find the decorating video HERE or by clicking on the image below of the cookies. I hope this is helpful!
