Hey Besties! Whether you are a hobby baker or a baking biz bestie, these boo bag cookies are a hit every year! They are super simple to make and even more adorable packaged up! I even made you four new cookie tag designs that you can download and use with your boo bag cookies this year! Let’s jump in!

Cutout Cookie Recipe

To start, we used our oh-so-popular salted caramel cutout cookie recipe! You really can’t go wrong with this flavor; it’s loved among our customers and fellow cookiers! Like all of our cutout cookie recipes, it’s no-chill and no-spread so quick and easy to whip up all your favorite shapes!

We used our vanilla royal icing, which complements this cookie flavor beautifully! We almost always use our vanilla icing with all of our flavored cookies so the cookie flavor can take center stage. That said, some cookiers like to add a little bit of the caramel flavoring to their royal icing and that’s delicious too! Needless to say, you’ve got many flavors of cutout cookies to choose from to enjoy plain or decorate!

Ghost Cookie Cutter

For these boo bag cookies, I used THIS ghost cookie cutter! And while normally I bake standard size (3.5-4″) cookies, I prefer to use slightly smaller cookies with these bags. That way, I can get more in the bag, and they are easier to package. So I opted for a 2.5″ cookie cutter.

I simply flooded my cookies, added eyes with puffy icing and let fully dry overnight. The next morning, I added details with an edible marker and some rosy cheeks with THIS petal dust palette we love!

All of my cookies spend a brief time in my dehydrator to get a silky-smooth finish to my royal icing and avoid any cratering.

Packaging for Boo Bag Cookies

When it comes to packaging these cuties, we offer 2 different sizes! Especially in our current economy, people like different price points. We use these bags for all kinds of cute cookie offering year-round and dress them up with ribbon and fun tags or stickers. in THIS post, you can see how we use these for cookie confetti bags and other year-round treats. They are a fabulous way for your customers to get access to your cookies even if they don’t need “custom” cookies.

The larger resealable bag holds twelve of these ghost cookies and the smaller bags hold four. Honestly, they are a nice break from individually bagging cookies! And our customers love that they can reseal them to keep them fresh.

Not sure if your baking soda is still good? Add a teaspoon of baking soda to 1/2 cup hot water. If it bubbles, it's still good!
