Hey Besties! Today I’m going to show you the easiest way to tackle cookie stencil storage! If you’re a regular here, you know I LOVE cookie stencils! It is the easiest way to REALLY elevate your cookie designs, especially when you’re a beginner. The patterns, designs, fonts, messaging, the options are endless. That said, you can quickly find yourself with a whole collection of stencils and no great way to keep them organized. I hear you, I’ve been there. And because stencils can last forever, when properly cared for, it’s critical to keep them safe, organized and ready for your next design. Let me show you the easy and cheap way I organize my stencils!
The Safest Cookie Stencil Storage
I’ve seen cookiers store their stencils in a variety of ways and hey, do what works best for you! But I feel an album with proper pockets is the best way to protect and organize your stencils. Some stencils are very delicate and if they get ripped or bent, you might as well throw them away. I will say that I’ve seen cookiers use an accordion-style file folder, which can be a safe option, if you keep the stencils in their original packaging and then file them. But if they are loose, this type of system may leave them vulnerable to tangles, rips and bends.
How Big Is Your COllection?
I’ve got recommendations or small or big collections, which is why I ask. If you don’t have many stencils, don’t anticipate collecting many more, but want to keep them safe, THIS is the album I recommend. I’ve got this baby and it come with perfectly sized sleeves, ready to hold up to 20 stencils. You can also purchase more sleeves HERE. I use a cardstock backing behind each stencil so I can easily see the stencil pattern and to have them safe. Most of the time, you can use the stencil backing it came with. I love how small and convenient this album is to easily tuck away.
If you already have or plan to have a large collection of stencils, I recommend the larger album, offered by The Cookie Countess, available HERE. This baby comes with enough pages to house 80 stencils and the ability to house 400, if you purchase more pages. It is a bit more of an investment at $30 (at the time of this writing) but considering that you generally spend at least $6 on each stencil, it’s a smart investment to keep them safe and organized. Another feature I like about this album is the ability to add divider pages for holidays, seasons, etc.
Protecting Your Investments
Bestie, I know organization is not the most sexy or fun way to spend your money…although some people love it. But in our world, we make MANY small investments that add up to large investments and it’s in your best interest to protect them to save money in the long run. Being organized also saves you money if the form of efficiency which is extremely valuable.
