A Favorite Cutout Cookie Recipe

Listen, I could never pick one favorite from our cutout cookie collection. It would be like picking your favorite child! But when I think of kids and know how much they LOVE this recipe, our Funfetti cutout cookie recipe was the best choice for these back-to-school cookie gifts! No-chilling needed, makes these super quick and easy to make! And they perfectly hold all your favorite shapes, which made these crayons turn out beautiful! It’s a favorite among fellow cookiers and I hope you love it too! But I always have options for you! You can pick your favorite from our collection of no-chill cutout cookie recipes HERE!

Our Favorite Royal Icing Recipe

If you have a royal icing recipe you love, I love that for you! But if you are on the hunt for a fabulous one or if your current one is giving you less than amazing results, THIS will walk you through exactly how we make our royal icing for all of our decorating. It’s delicious and gives us consistent, beautiful results every time!

And if decorating with royal icing is new to you, our Royal Icing FAQs will help accelerate your decorating journey! Learn how to work with royal icing and get answers to commonly asked questions.

Decorating Crayon Cookies

For these adorable crayon cookies, we used THIS cutter from one of our go-to cookie cutter shops. They’ve even given me a promo code to share with you for 10% off your entire order! Use code BESTIE10 when shopping there to keep more of your dough!

To decorate these crayon cookies, start with fun colors! We love ChefMaster gel colors and can make virtually any color we want from THIS set!

Then simply flood your cookies using a flood consistency. If flooding is new to you, our Flooding 101 tutorial will be your new bestie. Let your icing crust over and then use a slightly thicker consistency, which we call our puffy icing consistency, to add the details shown. If you need any help with consistencies, THIS guide will help!

Then let your icing dry completely overnight and your cookies will be ready for packaging in the morning! With such a simple design, it’s easy to pump out a whole bunch of fun-colored crayon cookies!

Back-To-School Cookie Gifts

Gifts for teachers and even students has become increasingly popular over the past several years. Many home bakeries report it’s one of their top selling ‘holidays’ of the year! So this year, we are loving THESE adorable resealable bags! They come in different sizes, but we love this size for a back-to-school cookie gift. For reference, these cookies are 3.5″ tall and the bags shown have 4 cookies in each. They make for a great selling price point of $12-$15 each, on average.
