Hey Besties! What started out as a little baking experiment has turned into something I’m so excited to share with you! I never thought I’d be so excited about something like this but here we are! Today, we are talking about a couple options to easily create a beautiful signature on your cookies! Using a couple simple (and cheap) tools, there will be no mistaking who made your cookies. And honestly, it really enhances the professionalism as well! Using a perforated baking mat and/or a custom cookie stamp, you’re going to LOVE what this does for your cookies! Who knew something so easy could make a such a difference! Let’s do this!

The Beauty of a Cookie Signature

Regardless of whether you bake for friends or family or whether you have a booming baking business, a signature on your cookie says a lot about you! Let’s be honest, when people are handed a cookie, they commonly look at the bottom, even if it’s by accident or just for a second. And while we focus SO much time on making sure the top of the cookie is perfect, you have a whole unexpected opportunity to WOW with the bottom! It’s blank real estate, just screaming for some attention and love. No one is expecting to find anything fabulous there so when they do, you’ve definitely set yourself apart!

And not only is it pretty, but it can do wonders from a marketing perspective if you run a bakery. It literally creates a unique signature on your cookie that can be photographed and shared online. It also eliminates any potential concern of someone buying and reselling your cookies without your consent. That doesn’t happen often, but it does happen, and this puts a kibosh on that!

The mAGIC of a Perforated Baking Mat

Like many bakers, you find what works and then you don’t mess with it! I’ve always had success baking my cookies on parchment paper so didn’t ever feel the need to mix it up. But after SO many bakers gushing over their love for using a perforated baking mat, I gave them a shot! And let me tell you, they are indeed magical. While I don’t struggle with spreading with our recipes, I could immediately tell the cookies definitely baked evenly. And in talking with other bakers who have struggled with spread, using a perforated baking mat has been their answer!

Aside from how they baked, I can tell you that I did not need to change my baking times at all using these mats. Same recipe, same baking time! And then of course, they do look pretty and consistent! When someone picks up a cookie with this kid of bottom, they definitely take a peek at it!

I use and love THESE mats to give this perfect look. 🥰

A Signature Cookie Stamp

Maybe the perforated look doesn’t appeal to you, or you prefer to bake using a different method. That’s fine! But I do want to tell you about this fun, custom signature stamp!

I ordered this simple custom stamp from THIS incredibly popular shop! Known for their cookie cutters, I LOVE that they also offer THESE stamps! You have a few different fonts to choose from and can request exactly how you want the words lined up.

When it comes to actually doing the stamping, you can either stamp the bottoms or stamp the tops. Many cookiers actually stamp the tops and then decorate the bottoms of their cookies because they are perfectly flat. I stamped the tops here which allow for decorating the bottom or using it as a cute “thank you” cookie for marketing purposes!

Perforated baking mat

Customers definitely have an “ooooh ahhhh” moment when they see your cookie signature! And that’s when you play it off like, “Oh that? Yeah, that’s my cookie signature.” 😉

How WIll YOu Use YOur Cookie Real Estate?

Whether you like a beautiful uniform finish on the bottom of your cookies or add a signature, I encourage you to use this space to your advantage! By using a perforated baking mat, a signature stamp or both, you’ve got great options! I will also add that I do like the sustainability of using a perforated baking mat too. Up until now, our house goes through A LOT of parchment paper, so I feel better about this.

I hope I’ve given you some inspiration or ideas to think about how you can take advantage of BOTH sides of your cookies!
