Hey Besties! I swear the kids just got OUT of school and now we’re already prepping to send them BACK! Is it just me or do these summers seem to be getting shorter and shorter? Regardless, they are going back and that means we need to start planning for some cute treats! Whether you bake for your family, friends or a huge clientele, I’m sharing some cute designs and coordinating cookie cards to get the school year started off right! And remember, you don’t have to be a master cookie decorator to make impactful and amazing cookies! These designs are very straightforward and fun!
Recipes
A yummy canvas is where we always have to start! And your options are continuing to grow with our no-chill, no-spread cutout cookie collection, HERE! And while everyone loves a great vanilla sugar cookie, my first choice for back-to school cookies would be our Funfetti cookie recipe! Everyone goes bananas for this flavor and the sprinkles make it extra fun.
Now you could make delicious cutout cookies in fun shapes and call it a day…or you could decorate! THIS post includes the recipe we use to make our royal icing along with details on exactly HOW we make it. With royal icing, the HOW it’s made is simple, yet really important to achieve great results.
Back To School Cookie Designs
Let’s get to the fun part! Last year ee made cute “Teacher fuel” coffee cups and the always-popular note cookies, which you can see HERE. But this year, we’re in love with these personalized backpack cookies and crayons! I hope I’m not the only person who LOVES the smell of a fresh box of crayons!
You can find the cutters I used at these links:
Both of these designs are straightforward simply decorating by sections. Make sure one section has crusted over before adding a neighboring section, so they don’t bleed together. But just because they are simple doesn’t mean they aren’t awesome! You can make them as simple or as elaborate as you’d like based on your skill level!
If you’d like to see exactly how these were decorated, you can see these in action on my TikTok page, in addition to many other designs! I’m hoping these videos are another great resource for you…or just fun to watch!
Cookie Cards
While these cookies are darling, I wanted to ramp up the fun factor! So, I created these cute 4×6 cookie cards that you can download below! Print at home or at your local print shop, cut and use to jazz up your back-to-school cookie offerings! Note that for picture purposes, I didn’t heat seal, but in real life, we individually heat seal our cookies and attach to the cookie cards with double-sided tape.
You can download these free cookie cards below!
