Poinsettia Cookie
This cookie cutter comes from Bobbi’s Cutters and is called the Solle Plaque Cookie Cutter. As soon as I saw it, I knew I could use it for SO many designs! But since we’re in the thick of holiday season, I’m putting a festive twist on it today! And because Bobbi is so generous, she always honors a 10% discount on your full order when you use promo code BESTIE10! Thank you, Bobbi!

Today’s Cookie Recipe
For today’s poinsettia cookie design, I opted to use my lemon cutout cookie recipe, which you can never go wrong with. Is it one of our holiday favorites? Not really. But is it a year-round favorite? Absolutely. Many people enjoy the crisp, refreshing flavor of a lemon cookie, even during the holidays! And of course, it’s no-chill, like all of my cutout cookie recipes, so is super quick and simple to make!
Poinsettia Cookie Design Details
Before we jump right to the instructional video, let’s cover a few important details that I know many will ask about!
The key to basically all of cookie decorating comes down to icing consistencies. And in this design, I used a flood consistency to create my smooth base. I used a STIFF consistency for my florals and leaves, and then a writing consistency for the word Believe. I show exactly what each of these consistencies looks like, in the mixing bowl, in my royal icing consistency guide.
For making the poinsettias and the leaves, I used leaf tip, 352. It’s such an easy tip to use to create all kinds of designs, so you definitely want it in your tip collection.
And I used THIS edible glitter to dry dust some extra sparkle to the poinsettia flowers. Edible glitter is slightly different than luster dust and I find it works perfect for applications like this. Hobby Lobby also carries some great edible glitter as well!
