Hey Besties! In the land of “ask and you shall receive,” I’m excited about today’s post! Many of you have been requesting cookie care cards to include in your packaging and I’m here to deliver! Customers don’t always know how to store cookies and heaven forbid, they put them in the fridge (gasp)! And especially during the holiday season when customers may be gifting cookies or saving them for a gathering, there’s never been a better time to start including some cookie care instructions in your orders. Let’s take a peek!
Is a Cookie Care Card necessary?
Is it a must-have? Of course not. But does it provide a higher level of customer service and show that you care about your customer’s experience? It sure does! Many of your customers are spending a pretty penny on cookies for special events, so the least we can do as bakery owners is ensure they know how to care for them until they are enjoyed. And it can dress up your cute packaging at the same time. Win-Win!
How do I print my cookie care cards?
I print these just like I print my cookie cards and tags – on cardstock! This way, they are sturdier, more professional looking, but still easy and cheap to print. I simply use my home printer and cardstock like THIS! I personally like a 110-pound cardstock weight for these applications, so that works great! You can also have them printed for you at a local or online office supply store.
And then I use a paper cutter which makes cutting them super quick and easy. Like THIS!
What’s included on a cookie care card?
A cookie care card includes basic information that is common knowledge to you or me, but not necessarily to customers! Optimal freshness time, how to store, how to freeze and how to thaw are the main points I like to include. Some cookie care cards just get way too wordy and then people won’t even stop to read them. So in my opinion, short and sweet is important here!
Free Cookie Care Cards
I created a couple different free cookie card designs for you, both in a 4×6″ size with two cards per sheet. One is a horizontal orientation, and one is landscape, so you’ve got options. And I kept these pretty universal so they can be used year-round. Click on each photo to open the free pdf file!

Thank you for these! Are they editable? My cookies have a longer shelf life and I would like to edit that line.
Hi Kelly, the pdf files are not editable. Our cookies have a longer shelf life as well, but we always advise our customers on ideal timeframes to ensure maximum freshness.
The accompanying storage directions is a wonderful idea.
I am a paper crafter and pastry chef.
110 lb card stock is very difficult for a printer to feed. I have laser and ink jet printers. BOTH have difficulty with 110 lb card stock and results in jams.
Which printer of yours feeds 110 lb card stock through the rollers?
Hi! I use a regular HP inkjet printer, one sheet at a time and it prints just fine!
I can’t find the cards in the print shop. Have they moved somewhere else on the shire? Thank you!
