I know what you are thinking…”St Patrick’s Day cookies?! Bestie, we haven’t even celebrated Valentine’s Day yet!” I know, I get it! However, bakers gotta plan! 😊 Just like Target puts swimsuits out in Jan, we have to plan ahead people! Especially if you run a baking business, you’ll need to decide on your designs and marketing strategy well in advance. But rest assured, all the posts, pics and vids for Valentine’s Day are forever available for you on this site for help and inspiration.

Anyone else ready to be done with hearts?! Me too. St Patrick’s Day cookies offer all kinds of fun options! Obviously, shamrocks are probably the most popular, but don’t forget about horseshoes, pots of gold, rainbows, leprechauns, beer and of course, gnomes! By the way, is it me or does it feel like somehow gnomes work for every holiday now? I’m not complaining, they are so darn cute.

For these St Patrick’s Day cookies, we’re going to utilize a couple shamrock cutters, specifically, THESE! I used the two biggest shamrock cutters and THIS recipe which continues to be our all-time favorite! Our customers agree, with rave reviews and bakers are loving it for how easy and quick they are to make! Next, I used our best icing recipe, HERE, and used ChefMaster Leaf Green gel coloring to make a lighter and darker green. Then thinned white, light green and dark green to flood consistency (approx 10-12 second flood). These are easy, beginner-friendly designs and techniques which still make a big impact!

A Fun Twist?

You may want to consider using a CHOCOLATE sugar cookie for your St. Patrick’s Day cookies! People have been contacting me like crazy for THIS recipe which everyone is LOVING! For an extra fun twist, try adding some of LorAnn’s Peppermint Super Flavor oil, for an amazing chocolate mint cookie! Note: the super flavor extracts are strong, and you will only need to add a few drops, to your liking.

Not sure if your baking soda is still good? Add a teaspoon of baking soda to 1/2 cup hot water. If it bubbles, it's still good!
