Hey besties! This post has been a long time in the making and I’ve thrilled to finally be able to share with you! Unless you’ve been sleeping under a rock, you know that decorated sugar cookies are all the rage for any kind of celebration, event or just any regular day! And for good reason, they are delicious and can be custom made to bring personalization and character to any event. And who loves custom, personalized, one-of-a-kind things more than anyone? Brides! Which is why I’m so excited to unveil our gallery of wedding dress cookies! I hope these provide some inspiration and ideas for you next time you’re baking for someone’s big day!
Recipes
First things first! We need a perfectly delicious canvas! This set was made with our no-chill, no-spread lemon cutout cookie recipe. Not only are they quick and easy to make but provide the perfect zing of fresh flavor. However, you’ve got options…lots of them! You always have full access to all of our cutout cookie recipes HERE, so just pick your flavor! And when you’re making wedding dress cookies, you better have a recipe that perfectly keeps its shape, and these do!
Once you’ve got your cookies made, it’s time to whip up some fresh royal icing! THIS post walks you through the exact recipe we make and how we make our icing. The HOW part is just as important as the list of ingredients when you’re making royal icing. You’ll see in our photos, that this icing provides a perfectly smooth finish with a great sheen and details. If you’re struggling with any royal icing issues, I highly encourage you to follow THIS guide!
And while we’re talking icing, I’ll mention that we only use Genie’s Dream meringue powder, which gives us perfect results every time. And while almost everything in this post is white, we rely on ChefMaster coloring for the violet flowers.
Bring On The Dresses!
Who’s ready to go wedding dress shopping?! I’ve been wanting to make this collection of dresses for a long time and part of the goal is to show how you can make completely different dress designs with the same cutter shape. I’m no fashion designer (although I kind of felt like one) but I created two looks for every dress cutter. And there are many more ways you could design these or embellish the dresses too. Let the fashion show begin!
The Fairytale
I’m IN LOVE with this cutter shape! It’s so versatile and simply stunning! Cutter can be found HERE.
The Mermaid
LOVING the endless design options with this cutter! So sheik and beautiful! Cutter can be found HERE.
The Princess
The bell of the ball, right?! Endless design options with this full skirt! Cutter can be found HERE.
The Classic
Classic, modern, timeless. Many neckline, bodice and dress options! Cutter can be found HERE.
The Fancy
Again, completely different dress designs! I actually find this wedding dress cutter to be one of the most versatile to create many different designs. Cutter can be found HERE.
The Extra
Need I say more?! I fell in LOVE with how these turned out. Using a simple petal tip created two very different dress designs that brides would cherish! Cutter can be found HERE.
Wedding Dress Designs
I sketched my rough designs on all my wedding dress cookies with an edible marker before starting to decorate, which I highly recommend. Especially since, in my case, I was making multiple designs with the same cutter. I find sketching and even taking a photo of your sketched cookie before starting to decorate, can be an extremely helpful guide.
Most of these designs came down to simple outlining and flooding in sections. I kept the embellishments very light because I wanted you to be able to see the potential in each design.
And I’m dying to know which dresses you like best!! Please leave a comment or hop on over to our facebook group HERE to chat!
