Hey Besties! I’m here to remind you that anyone can make beautiful, impactful cookies even with beginner skills! Today I’m sharing two designs for 4th of July cookies to show you how you can use tools to create amazing designs. If you’ve seen some of my other posts and designs, you’ll know I love stencils, which are a beginner’s best friend! If you can flood a cookie, you can make these too!
I used THIS go-to vanilla sugar cookie recipe and THIS royal icing recipe!
4th of July Cookie Design 1
In this first design, I flooded white, then used my airbrush to add the gingham pattern in red, using THIS stencil. For more on which stencil holder and other stenciling tools I like best, see THIS post. Lastly, I used my projector, which I absolutely LOVE, to add the “USA” font in navy blue.
As you can see, in this example, even beginner decorators, armed with the right tools, can make fabulous designs! Honestly, I can’t stress enough how much easier the decorating journey is when you have the right tools.
4th of July Cookie Design 2
In this second design, I flooded white, then used my airbrush to add the star pattern using THIS starburst stencil in blue. I then used THIS “Happy 4th of July” stencil to scrape on royal icing in red.
You Can Do It Too
The overarching message in this post is that there are so many great tools that can accelerate your decorating journey! Some can be bigger investments than others, I totally get it, but items like a stencil holder and stencils are a very minimal investment yet can elevate all your designs. Between stencils, airbrushing and a projector, your designs are limitless! And if you don’t have a projector yet, stencils make all the difference to add phrases and lettering. Hopefully these examples provide some inspiration of the different decorating options you have available! Happy Baking, Besties!
