Father’s Day cookies are always so much fun to make, with SO many creative options! I struggled to decide which theme to make first this year but landed on this adorable and colorful tool set. My husband is VERY handy (we call him Handy Andy), so I knew he’d love these. But I tossed around many ideas – sports, golf, lawncare, beer, there are so many great themes! Regardless of whether the guy in your life loves tools or not, these are the kind of tools everyone loves!

Father’s Day Cookie Cutters, Colors and Cute Packaging

For these cookies, I used THIS cookie cutter set. I also used all ChefMaster gel colors in Sunset Orange, Leaf Green, Lemon Yellow and Black Diamond.

As far as recipes, I used my all-time favorite no-chill, no-spread, delicious sugar cookie recipe along with my go-to royal icing recipe. I love so many things about this royal icing recipe. I never have air bubbles and I get the puffy icing look, that I love!

And of course, presentation is everything, so I picked up these cute toolboxes from the Dollar Tree! I individually heat sealed these cookies to keep them fresh longer. Add some colorful paper shred and you have an adorable way to present your Father’s Day cookies!

Beginner Friendly Techniques

You can make these tool cookies as simple or as detailed as you’d like. I opted to keep these pretty basic because I commonly go with the “less is more” approach. Anytime I get really detailed, I just don’t end up liking them as much. I used an edible marker on my cookies first to map out my design since I did flood many different sections for good dimension. I flood each section independently and let them crust over before outlining and flooding the adjacent sections. I also used my dehydrator to speed up the drying process and also avoid craters. I think these turned out so adorable and love the puffy, smooth icing and fun colors!

I’m confident I’ll make other fun Father’s Day cookie sets over the next month, but this one was really fun! I hope this post of Father’s Day cookies provided some inspiration to honor the special guys in your life or for your customers!
