Hey besties! Mother’s Day is in the rearview mirror and now it’s dad’s turn! And while it’s safe to say that the majority of home bakery customers are women, we all know men LOVE sweets! They don’t say a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach for nothing, right? So, we’ve put together a few cute Father’s Day cookie designs along with coordinated cookie cards, sure to bring a smile based on what he loves! And with a whole collection of flavored cutout cookie recipes, you can nail this! Let’s go!
Cutout Cookie Recipes
Now normally, our go-to recipe is our vanilla recipe, which is magical and can be found HERE. But when it comes to dads, we all know dad’s LOVE brownies. So, my #1 recommendation for Father’s Day cookies, is using THIS chocolate cutout cookie recipe. It’s no-chill, ZERO spread and is soft and chewy just like a brownie. All that said, I made these with THIS cinnamon sugar cookie recipe because well, they are delicious! Bottom line is that you’ve got options, lots of them, and they are all no-chill and no-spread so have some fun!
For royal icing, you can find the recipe we love HERE, along with exactly HOW we make it. It also includes troubleshooting tips if you’re experiencing any issues with your current icing recipe.
Father’s Day Cookie Designs
Three adorable options which are simple enough for beginners! Hopefully one or all of these resonates with the guys in your life!

Beer Mug Cookies
The beer mug cookie cutter we love is from one of our favorite cutter shops HERE. We start by outlining and flooding the white parts of the mug. Once those areas set, we add the beer and a darker contrasting color for the bubbles when the icing is still wet. If you add a drop of the darker color and then add a drop of the beer color slightly offset, that’s what makes the perfect crescent shapes to look like bubbles. Lastly, we use thicker royal icing to add fluffy bubbles and sprinkle white non-pariels on top. Looks like a perfect beer!
Baseball Cookies
They don’t get much easier than this! Use any round cookie cutter, as big or as small as you’d like and flood white! Once crusted, using red piping consistency to add the stitches. Remember that stitches on baseballs do opposite directions! Simple yet perfectly adorable!!
Hammer Cookies
Last year, my daughter offered a toolbox full of cookies for her Father’s Day design. The hammer we used here comes from THIS set of tool cookie cutters. These are also very simple to decorate, simply by outlining and flooding each section. Just make sure a section is crusted before adding the neighboring section.
Who are You Baking For?
Whether you’re making sweet treats for your own dad, other special men in your life or offering these to your customers, they are sure to delight! Remember, you don’t need to be a master cookie decorator or have ALL the big tools to make meaningful and beautiful cookies that others will love!
I’ve also designed coordinating cookie cards in 4×6 sizes for those who would like to attach their cookies to a cute card! We always individually heat seal our cookies and then attach to our cookie cards with double-sided tape. Our free cookie cards and other printables are always available to our email subscribers and get sent out every Friday! We send one email a week, our newsletter, and it arrives in your inbox on Friday with new content and free printables. If you don’t already receive our newsletter, you can subscribe here!
