Hey Besties! I’ve had the pleasure of making some really cool cookies lately and I’m so excited to share with you! I don’t know if it’s the current throwback to the 90’s or what but cookies that GLOW are a craze right now! So today I’m showing you how to make cookies that GLOW! Hint: It’s super simple and design options are endless! I’ve got a couple different sets to share with you and more will be featured on my socials in coming days, so stay tuned! Let’s go!
Cutout Cookie Recipe
Before we get to the decorating, we need a delicious canvas! Both of the sets I’m featuring today were for kid’s parties. For these sets, the kids chose our cookies and cream cutout cookies and then our Funfetti cookies! Smart kids if you ask me! And since the secret ingredient in both of these recipes is the same, it made it super convenient to make both! Winning!
Royal Icing Recipe
Bestie, you may already have a royal icing recipe that you love, and, in that case, I love that for you! But if you need a fabulous royal icing recipe or if your current one if giving you any grief, THIS is how we make our royal icing every day! It’s super simple with just a few important steps. The magic is in the method of how it’s made, and it gives us perfect results and flavor every time.
GLOW Cookie Designs
Our first set came from a customer how loves our marble cookies but wanted to kick them up a notch for a party! Which I was fully on board with! If you’ve been here before, you know my healthy obsession with one-of-a-kind marble dipped cookies!
And the second set was for a young girl who loves all things space! Gotta love a science girly, right?! She actually wasn’t expecting space cookies that actually GLOW so you can imagine her excitement when she saw them!! I went to sleep with a smile on my face that night, knowing how memorable these cookies were for her!
How to make cookies that glow – Secret Ingredient
You’ll be delighted to know that making glow cookies is seriously simple! THESE are the colors we use in our royal icing to create the glow effect! Fully edible, no taste and amazing results make these so fun to use! A little bit goes a long way, and the powder coloring just mixes right into our white royal icing. No need to color your icing otherwise! You’ll see in the video I made exactly what the royal icing looks like using these colors. And then you just decorate as normal! No painting or other tedious work involved!
I do want to make clear that these cookies glow under blacklight, these do not just glow in the dark. And while we do have a larger blacklight we’ve used during Halloween parties; I find this little blacklight flashlight is so fun and handy when I’m making these cookies! I can click it on at any time to OOOH and AHHH at the glow!
Next level Glow Cookies
Check out how fun these sets turned out! And besties, I’m spinning with ideas for Halloween this year!!!
And the space girl cookies! She was thrilled with the cookies on the left before she even saw how they transformed!!
Aren’t they so fun?! Halloween is going to be EPIC! The four colors (pink, orange, yellow and green) that come in THIS set have been more than enough for us to make amazing designs with. And since a little bit of powder goes a LONG way, they last a very long time!
