Hey Besties! Today we are honoring heroes with some beautiful Memorial Day cookie designs! While Memorial Day is the unofficial kick off of summer, we’re also using our baking talent to create some meaningful, edible art! Virtually everyone knows someone to honor on this special holiday and it’s important that we show our respect in their memory. We’re featuring some simple, yet beautiful and impactful cookie designs for all skill levels! Let’s dive in!
RECIPES
You may have a tried-and-true cookie and icing recipe you love, but if not, we’ve got you! THIS is our go-to vanilla cutout cookie recipe that we LOVE and use every day! But of course, if you’re looking to branch out with fun flavors, you have access to our whole collection of no-chill, no-spread, delicious recipes HERE! If you are only making vanilla cookies, you (and your customers and family) are missing out!
For royal icing, THIS is our favorite recipe we use every day, without fail. If you don’t LOVE your royal icing recipe or the results you get, we recently published THIS detailed post walking you through exactly how we make ours, along with royal icing troubleshooting tips for any issues you are experiencing with your icing. Royal icing can be finicky but once you nail your recipe and technique, it’s very simple!!
Designs
This year, we’ve incorporated edible images into our Memorial Day cookie designs! We are having SO much fun with all the new design options our edible printing setup allows us! They are so simple and easy to make yet beautiful! If you have any questions about our edible printing setup we use at home or how exactly we make these cookies, it’s all detailed HERE!
I’m in LOVE with how these turned out. They are so pretty, smell so good and were beautiful to photograph! A common question I’ve been receiving is which rectangle cookie cutter I use for my photo cookies. I use the rectangle cutter from THIS set. I use ALL the cutters in that set on repeat!
As simple as printing the edible photos and attaching with a coat of royal icing and then adding a border of stiff icing stars! They are picture perfect, and I can’t wait to gift these to some special people!
We’re also embracing the super easy marble dipping method with this set! Y’all, if you have not made marble dipped cookies, what are you waiting for?! Simple enough for anyone to do and they always turn out so pretty and one-of-a-kind! THIS post, which includes a demo video, explains exactly how to successfully make dipped marble cookies. They are a great accent design in any cookie set, using complementary colors.
For another option, we featured these cookies last year which were beautiful as well if you’re looking for more of a piped design.
I hope this post all about Memorial Day cookie designs has inspired you to create some stunning treats to honor not only those who have served but have made the ultimate sacrifice. We have a tradition at our house of dropping off some beautiful treats at a nearby nursing home on Memorial Day. To see the faces of the residents LIGHT UP is everything to us. Regardless of what your specialty is, I encourage you to brighten someone’s day with your talent!

Do you do cookies to order? Late to the game but have a nephew graduating from West Point military academy at the end of the month. Your Americana cookies would be a nice touch to a small event Imim hosting
Hi Mays, WOW, that is such a HUGE accomplishment!! Unfortunately, our state’s cottage baking laws don’t allow us to ship. Congratulations to your nephew and I hope your event is fantastic!
