Hey Besties! I’ve been waiting for the perfect opportunity to make some cookie sticks and the time has come! I had so much fun creating these Valentine’s cookie sticks and I hope they provide you inspiration to make some too! Decorated cookie sticks have become really popular and there are endless design options and ideas for every holiday and occasion.
Cookie Recipe
Before we jump into the designs, let’s cover the recipes used for these delicious cookies! Now if you haven’t been here before, you should know that no-chill dough is kind of our specialty. Years ago, I used to DREAD making cutout cookies because they were so time consuming! Until I realized I could create recipes that didn’t require chilling at all! Say what?! Yep, this busy mom does not have time for chilling cookie dough if I don’t have to! Some cookiers prefer to chill their dough and feel free to do so if that’s your jam!
These Valentine’s cookie sticks were made with THIS no-chill, no-spread caramel cutout cookie recipe. The flavor of these cookies makes it one of my go-to favorites. It is SO delicious! Now don’t get me wrong, vanilla sugar cookies are always a good idea and you can’t go wrong with THIS recipe!
If you’re looking for the perfect royal icing recipe, THIS is my go-to! It is super easy to make, easy to work with, I never have problems with air bubbles or bleeding and it’s delicious!
Cutter
For these cookie sets, I used THIS cutter set, which is slick since it literally cuts all 4 cookies at the same time. I also love that the edges are slightly rounded. But I’ve also seen cookie stick cutter sets locally at Michaels, so you can always check what’s available near you!
Design #1
Such a simple design yet I LOVE how cute it turned out! This really got my wheels turning on more designs that tell a story!
Flooded with white and used a piping consistency for the details. Just darling!
Design #2
Using a simple wet-on-wet technique to make some hearts with this design. Then used my projector to add the lettering – voila!
Design #3
For this design, I sketched my idea onto the cookies first with an edible marker since I wanted to make sure they’d match up together. I outlined and flooded the heart sections first, let those crust in the dehydrator and then flooded the purple around. Another simple and easy design.
Now that I’ve created these, I have all kinds of ideas for more designs! I’m excited to make more that act like puzzle pieces to tell a story across the cookies. And just think…you could line up as many cookie sticks as you’d like to create endless designs! Oh, the possibilities! This is not the last post you’ll see utilizing cookie sticks!
