Hey Besties! When I was pondering what kind of Mother’s Day cookies I wanted to create this year, I knew I wanted something different. At the same time, I wanted to make sure they appealed to moms everywhere. And what do just about all moms have in common? We all throw out the same phrases decade after decade. We can all relate to these moments of motherhood and have a good laugh. Which is why I’m excited to share these beautiful, yet fun Mother’s Day cookies decorated with nostalgia and love! I hope you love these too and can think fondly of sayings your mom used to say! And then put them on a cookie to make her day!
Cutout Cookie Recipe
These Mother’s Day cookies were made with our cotton candy cutout cookie recipe, as a nod to my cotton candy-loving mom. As with all of our recipes, these are no-chill and no-spread, so they are quick and easy to make and keep all your favorite shapes! The secret ingredient is THIS flavoring which is SO yummy! The amount used in the recipe is a balanced flavor, but you can add even more if you’d like a stronger cotton candy flavor!
Royal Icing Recipe
If you need a fabulous royal icing recipe, THIS will walk you through exactly how we make our royal icing for all of our cookies! Today, we kept our royal icing vanilla flavor, but you can also use the same cotton candy flavoring in your royal icing if you’d like. Remember that a little goes a long way with these flavorings, but I included the amount we use in THIS recipe post as a great, light flavor.
Cookie Design
I used simple hearts for this set with the thought of wanting them to be pretty with the juxtaposition of including the funny sayings. I used all ChefMaster Colors for this set, which come from THIS set. You can mix up virtually any shade or hue you need from that set, and always get beautiful results!
For decorating. we use THESE piping bags for all of our cookie decorating. We LOVE these bags and have never had one burst either! I hope I didn’t just jinx myself!
For the writing, I used the Bakerie font in Canva and our projector. Honestly Bestie, I could never do any writing on cookies without my projector. And our consistency guide will show you the exact consistency we use for this writing. We use different consistencies for thick, puffy fonts versus these thing writing fonts.
And for the flowers which add the feminine touch, we have tutorial for you! THIS tutorial includes learning three different types of rose flowers. And THIS includes the tutorial for petal flowers! They are all SO much simpler than they look!
What Did YOUR Mom say?
I probably could’ve made 5 dozen of these cookies when I think about all the classic mom sayings! And I’m sure you have your own that your mom used to say! I adore this set since they are still feminine and pretty, but with that twist of nostalgia. And hey, your mom will know you were listening after all!
I hope these Mother’s Day cookies decorated with beauty and humor have inspired you to create some of your own! And for our bakery biz besties, ask your customers which sayings THEY remember from their moms! It’s a great and fun way to engage your audience!
